GMC vehicles are manufactured by General Motors, and the company has extended the GMC marque beyond the GMC Yukon or the GMC Sierra line. Now it also includes not just vans and pickup trucks but also light duty trucks and SUVs.  At Adams Autoworx Albany we work on following models:

GMC Canyon was first introduced in 2004. It is a mid-size pickup truck with a healthy towing capacity – around 7500 lb.  When it comes to problem reports, 2015 GMC Canyon had transmission problems and also problem with power steering, and 2016 Canyon also suffered from transmission problems. GMC Canyon 2018 model continued the transmission problems trend – it suffered from a slipping torque convertor. Fortunately, more recent models returned to the old Canyon tradition of working well and we see few problems – just like the older models that seem to just keep going and going.

GMC Savana Passenger and Cargo vans were originally introduced in 1996. GMC Savana Passenger van can seat 12, while the GMC Savana Cargo van seats two, along with ample cargo space for over 3000 lb. of payload. They show no pattern of recurring problems, and over the years there are few reports of any specific issues to watch out for. They can be configured with either gasoline engine or diesel engine. At Adams Autoworx Albany our technicians are equally comfortable with gasoline and diesel engines – so whichever GMC van you happen to own – bring it to our Albany auto repair shop for service or repairs.

GMC Sierra 1500 has been around since 1991. It comes with either gasoline or diesel ( Duramax ) engine. At Adams Autoworx Albany we service and repair diesels as well, so no matter which engine powers your Sierra 1500, you can bring it in for maintenance, service or repairs. GMC Sierra 1500 are remarkably reliable, except for the 2014 model that had issues with leaking ac condenser, and some headlights problems. Overall though, we see few problem reports. As long as you arrange for regular maintenance, your Sierra 1500 should provide you with reliable service well into the future.

GMC Sierra 2500 is the big brother of the Sierra 1500.  It offers almost 4000 lb. payload capacity, and over 18500 lb. tow rating. As all GMC Sierra vehicles, it tends to be a reliable workhorse. The only model year to watch out for is the 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 which had problems with exhaust system, and sometimes suffered from fuel pump failure. There are few complaints for other years, so just follow factory recommended maintenance schedule and it will keep your 2500 in good shape.

GMC Sierra 3500 gives you extra power and flexibility. If you need a one-ton pickup, there it is.  Depending on the configuration it can tow up to 20,000 lb. There is only one model year, 2004 GMC Sierra 3500, that has sporadic reports of drivetrain problems. Other than that, Sierra 3500 problem reports are few and far between. Naturally we recommend regular service for your vehicle – it’s particularly important for a truck carrying or pulling heavy loads. At Adams Autoworx Albany we offer comprehensive GMC Sierra 3500 maintenance services and repairs. Whether you truck has a gasoline or diesel engine, we can get it diagnosed, fixed and back on the road.

GMC Terrain has been named by J.D. Power and Associates 2015 Most Dependable Compact SUV. Terrain is a mid-size crossover SUV that combines performance and style. Early versions of GMC Terrain suffered from transmission problems, and excessive oil consumption, but later models overcame these problems and we see few problem reports.

GMC Yukon has been around for almost three decade. It can seat as many as 9 people. It has been conferred by J.D. Power and Associates with the Most Dependable Large SUV in 2015 and 2016 award. Newer models have only two years with significant number of complaints - 2007 Yukon suffered from excessive engine oil consumption. The award winning 2015 GMC Yukon model turned out to have problems with exterior lights, and with a/c not working. But other than these two, there are only sporadic reports of issues with the GMC Yukon.

GMC Acadia is a mid-size crossover SUV bearing the GMC marquee.  It can seat seven people and is rated for towing up to 4,000 pounds. These days is comes with rear view camera, and with lane change assist. Early Acadia models, like the 2007 and 2008 Acadia suffered from engine problems and transmission issues. Premature timing chain wear was reported for the 2010 GMC Acadia. Few problems are reported for newer model years. If your Acadia does need repairs, our nationally ASE certified technicians can use their in-depth knowledge, along with the state-of-the-art digital tools to diagnose and fix your vehicle.
