Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Repair in Albany, CA - Adams Autoworx Albany

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Repair in Albany

Tire Pressure Monitoring System, often shortened to TPMS, is designed to monitor tire pressure and alert you if any tire is underinflated by a significant amount. It does so by turning on TPMS light on the dashboard. Unfortunately, sometimes tire pressure is fine, yet the system still turns on TPMS light. This can happen due to sensor malfunction, electrical malfunction, or dead sensor battery.

Technicians at our Albany auto repair shop can diagnose the root cause of the TPMS light, and correct any malfunctions they detect. Naturally we also check and adjust tire pressure whenever your vehicle is brought in for service.

As should be expected, in most cases, TPMS functions correctly and the light on the dashboard really signifies under-inflation of at least one tire. This is easily remedied by adding air. However if the light comes on again, chances are that the tire is either worn down and losing air, or there is a nail somewhere in the tire that results in a slow air leak. If the nail is in the sidewall, the tire cannot be repaired and it will have to be replaced. Worn tires should be replaced as well – we can check how badly worn it is and suggest the optimal course of action. We can mount and balance new tires, and can also perform wheel alignment, if needed.
