Your vehicle has many parts that wear out over time. The brake system has brake pads, and in some cases brake shoes, that wear out. This is completely normal, as they are used to generate friction that slows down the car and the friction wears them down. This means that the brake system needs regular inspections and occasional brake pad replacement. Ideally you would have brakes inspected at the same time as your vehicle gets an oil change. At Adams Autoworx Albany we offer brake inspections for vehicle owners who live in Albany, Kensington and El Cerrito. Regular brake inspections give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the brakes were inspected by highly skilled professionals. If you suspect any issues with the brakes, it is important to have them inspected - some of these warning signs could be: Grinding or squealing noises when applying the brakes Brake pedal pulsates when brakes are applied Brake pedal feels spongy At Adams Autoworx in Albany we of ... read more

Adams Autoworx Albany offers full range of Ford F-150 repairs. Looking at the F-150 model, the one with the most complaints appears to be F-150 produced in 2004. It is known for two common problems – window not going up and spark plugs breaking off in head. The window problem is in most cases easy to solve – it requires installation of a new window regulator. In some cases, new window regulator cables were needed. The repair is pretty straightforward. Spark plugs breaking off in head is a different story. It requires considerable work, and tends to be on the expensive side. So if you own 2004 F-150, be forewarned. At Adams Autoworx we service all Ford vehicles, and provide a free digital vehicle inspection with every service or repair. We can provide everything from oil change, to brake repair, to check engine light diagnostic, new tires, electrical system diagnostic and repairs, to transmission and engine work – if your F150 needs help ... read more

September is almost over, and the worst fires of the season are behind us. Unfortunately, during the past weeks, your vehicle’s air filters bore the brunt of the smoke and ash that floated through the air. Normally we recommend air filter replacement every 12 months or so, but this year, the time to replace air filters is now. Your vehicle likely has two air filters – cabin air filter that cleans the air you and your passengers breathe, and engine air filter which cleans the air used by the engine. Both need to be replaced. Fortunately this can be accomplished during an oil service, so if your vehicle is due for one, you can get it all done at the same time. If your vehicle does not need oil service in the near future, we recommend making an appointment to change the air filters anyway – vehicle’s engine, and your lungs will benefit.
