Brake fluid is vital to your safety. It transfers and amplifies the power from the brake pedal to the calipers that press the brake pads against the rotors, thus causing your Honda to slow down and to stop. Brake fluid is highly hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water from the environment. As a result, over time water content of the brake fluid will go up until it starts to impact braking performance, and in severe cases can cause brake failure. That’s why we highly recommend regular brake fluid change aka brake fluid flush. Fortunately, unlike oil change, you only need to replace brake fluid every 2 years or so. If you are not sure if your Honda needs brake fluid change, bring it to our Albany auto care shop, and our highly skilled, nationally ASE certified technicians will inspect the fluid, and measure its water content. If it turns out that your Honda does needs brake fluid flush, our technicians can complete testing and brake fluid exchange the same day – you can drop ... read more

Your Toyota was designed and manufactured by the finest production facilities on the planet – the Toyota Production System. Yet for all the wonderful design and engineering that goes into your Toyota, the lowly oil change is still the most important service that needs to be performed regularly. Engine oil not only lubricates the engine, but also carries out gunk and debris that naturally occur as a result of many parts moving in close proximity, and age related deterioration of various parts of the system. While most of these impurities get filtered out by the oil filter, both the motor oil and the filter need to be regularly changed. If you should skip that vital service, your Toyota’s engine will suffer from less effective lubrication, and its lifespan will be decreased. That’s because engine oil deteriorates due to heat and usage. Oil filter also has limited capacity, so if you do not have oil change performed at the right interval, it will not be able to properl ... read more

Your Toyota will need wheel alignment about once a year – most vehicles do. The sorry state of the Bay Area roads may necessitate more frequent alignment, as even hitting a pothole can throw the wheels out of alignment. If the wheels are not properly aligned, you will find accelerated tire wear, and a bit less control over the vehicle, fuel efficiency may suffer a bit as well. Since the tires wear out gradually, the changes might not be noticeable at first, but if the tires are out of alignment, over time the signs of tire wear will be unmistakable. At Adams Autoworx Albany we offer full service tire alignment on a computerized tire alignment machine. We provide this service not only to individual car owners, but also to a number of local auto repair shops who trust us with properly aligning their clients’ vehicles. We recommend yearly wheel alignment check – the cost of this service pays for itself in extended tire life and better mileage. The procedure can be per ... read more
