How to Respond to a Blinking vs. Solid Check Engine Light The check engine light doesn’t always mean you need to pull over right away, but you should know what the different lights mean. If the check engine light is solid, it’s not as urgent. You can continue to drive for a short period, but schedule a diagnostic service as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
