A failing or non-functioning air conditioning can be a major inconvenience, and of course a/c systems seem to fail at the worst possible time – usually during the hottest day of the year. If your car's AC is no longer working as it should, it could be due to low refrigerant (Freon) levels. In such instances, an auto air conditioning refill (recharge) is what your car needs to resume offering a cool breeze.
A/C refrigerant gas (Freon) is the key component of the auto a/c system. If your vehicle is low on Freon, a/c system will not function effectively, you may get only slightly cooled air. If the system lost all Freon, a/c will not provide any cooling.
At Adams Autoworx in Albany we offer A/C checkup and refill. We verify that the AC system has no leaks, and top up (recharge) the refrigerant if needed.
Signs your vehicle's AC needs to be recharged or checked for problems:
How can you tell if your car's air conditioning needs to be refilled? There are really two major symptoms of auto air conditioning system problems:
Blowing warm air
This is one of the most obvious signs that your AC is not working properly. Keep in mind that the system works by circulating pressurized refrigerant, so if the amount of the refrigerant in the system drops too low, it may experience a loss in cooling capability.
No air coming from the vents
This can be due to a number of electrical or mechanical problems. Coolant levels may be fine, but the blower motor, blower motor relay, or some of the hoses could be at fault.
